Foundation Information

The International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA) Foundation was organized in 2004 with the mission of advancing the educational and charitable pursuits of IABA. The IABA Foundation funds programming to develop the scholarship, leadership and personal potential of actuarial professionals, collegians and high school students.  The Foundation works with the IABA staff, donors and the actuarial community at large to further this purpose.

The IABA Foundation administers a scholarship program to benefit college students pursuing studies leading to a career in the actuarial profession.

Further, the IABA Foundation seeks to provide a network of support to actuarial professionals in their chosen career.  IABA's professional development programs and mentoring also benefit the broader actuarial community by increasing the retention of Blacks in the profession.

The number of Blacks entering the actuarial profession is increasing significantly every year yet there is still much work to be done as Blacks still represent only about 1 percent of the population of credentialed actuaries.  The leadership team of the IABA Foundation is dedicated to favorably changing this statistic. Simply put, we are working to turn potential into reality and opportunity into experience.  We invite you to join in this important work.
