Tenesia is an Actuarial Consultant at Optum. Prior to joining Optum, she worked as an Actuarial Analyst at Anthem, and also worked in Pension Consulting at Towers Watson. Tenesia graduated from the Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Actuarial Science and she received her Fellowship designation in 2014. Tenesia has served as Foundation President, Atlanta Affiliate Leader, Student Liaison, Scholarship Chair, and on the Annual Meeting Planning Committee of the International Association of Black Actuaries.

Kwame is a consulting actuary with Willis Towers Watson. He hails from Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the US in 2001. He is a Howard University alum of class 2005 and serves on the board for the center for insurance education. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He currently serves as co-chair for the DC affiliate for the last few years. He also currently serves on the joint committee on encouragement of actuarial diversity, CAS diversity and webinar committees. He has also been a champion of Diversity initiatives at his employer, Willis Towers Watson involved with recruiting and various inclusion initiatives.
Student Liaison - Paulus Ackah
Paulus was born in Ghana and moved to USA in 2012. He is a first generation junior at Georgia State University and serves on the Board of Directors for the Student Alumni Association. He is also a 2016 recipient of the IABA scholarship. Prior to receiving the scholarship, he was a member of the 2015 boot camp participants. Paulus is passionate about motivating people and helping them to reach their goals.
Director - Eric Atwater, FSA, MAAA
Eric is a Partner and leader of Aon’s Public Sector Actuarial practice. His primary responsibility is increasing Aon’s market presence as best-in-class provider of actuarial consulting services and bundled solutions in the public sector. He also serves as lead consulting actuary and relationship manager to public entities. Eric has been involved with IABA since 1996, when he was a college student looking for an actuary mentor. He helped write the content and designed IABA’s first website in the early 2000s. Mr. Atwater has served in several capacities with IABA, including leading the Atlanta local affiliate and being a mentor. In addition to his IABA service, Eric has served on the Social Security Committee of the American Academy of Actuaries, Public Plans Committee of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and is a member of the Pension Assistance List (PAL) that provides professional services to consumers who have questions about their pension plans. Additionally, Eric serves as a mentor for the Year Up program and is a frequent speaker at programs targeted toward developing and mentoring youth. Eric graduated with honors from Georgia State University, where he received a BBA with a concentration in Actuarial Science.

Director - Stafford L. Thompson, Jr. FSA, MAAA
Stafford was born in Jefferson City, MO to Dr. Stafford L. and Mrs. Bessie L. Thompson, Sr. He was raised in Tallahassee, FL. He graduated valedictorian in 1991 from the Lanier Academic Motivational Program (LAMP) of Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, AL. Stafford majored in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science at Florida A&M University. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1994 with a 4.0 GPA. While in college, he was initiated into the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., founded the FAMU Actuarial Club, joined the Golden Key Honor Society, and authored a professionalism course for actuaries. Stafford began his actuarial career in Hartford, CT at CIGNA Corporation where he advanced through 7 different roles in 9.5 years. He became a fully certified actuary in 2002 becoming one the youngest African-Americans to obtain this designation and one of the first 50 Black actuaries worldwide. Today, Stafford is the Vice President of Value-Added Solutions at SCOR Global Life Americas where he works with companies in Latin America to introduce new products to customers in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. Stafford has been a tireless advocate for the advancement of Black people in corporate America. He has served on several diversity councils which led to CIGNA making MLK Day an official company holiday. He served as president of the International Association of Black Actuaries. During his tenure, he increased scholarships to future Black actuaries by 100 fold and connected the corporate and educational communities to increase professional awareness and support careers of Black actuaries. He has also mentored countless students and professionals. Stafford also treasures and nurtures his faith in both the African Methodist Episcopal Church where he has served as a steward and the AME ZION Church. He is married to Michelle Ann-Marie Thompson and they have a beautiful daughter Mikayla Simone Thompson.
