Who We Are
The International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA) is a professional organization dedicated to supporting Black actuaries at every stage of their journey, from students exploring the profession to experienced leaders shaping its future.
Our Mission
To increase the number of successful Black actuaries through programs and partnerships that address their underrepresentation in the profession.
Our Vision
Equitable exposure, access, development, and advancement for Black people within the actuarial profession.
The Challenge
Black actuaries remain significantly underrepresented, accounting for just 2% of credentialed actuaries across North America. Limited awareness of actuarial careers in Black communities, financial barriers to education and exam preparation, lack of professional networks, and systemic challenges within organizations continue to restrict access and opportunity.
IABA exists to address these challenges.
We bring together students, early-career professionals, career changers, and credentialed actuaries to create a community where individuals can build meaningful connections, access valuable resources, and develop the skills needed to thrive and lead.
Through scholarships, exam preparation, mentoring, professional development, leadership programs, and strategic partnerships, IABA works to expand pathways into the profession while supporting long-term career growth and advancement. At our core, we are building more than a pipeline; we are building a community of actuaries committed to supporting one another and strengthening the profession for generations to come.
