Ways to Support the
IABA Community

Allyship requires consistent action. Individual efforts are amplified through commitment, consistency, and collaboration. IABA has identified four ways allies can support our mission.

Please select from the following:

Financial Support

Donations fund scholarships, exam preparation, and professional development programs.

Corporate sponsorship provides critical funding that makes it possible for programs to serve more students and professionals.

Supporting IABA Programs
  • Attend the Annual Meeting
  • Keep your contact and profile information updated
  • Volunteer as a resume reviewer or mock interviewer
  • Mentor students and early-career professionals
  • Follow, share, and engage with IABA on social media
  • Use the IABA job board and maintain a career profile
  • Share information about IABA opportunities with your networks

These volunteer roles directly shape students’ readiness for the job market and connect them with experienced professionals who understand their path.

Volunteer for IABA
Supporting Pipeline Growth
  • Connect with students at local middle schools or high schools to share about the actuarial profession
  • Host job shadows for students
  • Share information about IABA and the actuarial profession with colleges and universities

Early exposure matters—many students never consider actuarial careers simply because they don’t know they exist.

Supporting Your Colleagues
  • Attend Employee Resource Group events as an ally
  • Participate in ongoing education around racism and discrimination—identify your own blind spots and acknowledge how you have benefited from preferential systems
  • Introduce yourself to new team members and invite them to coffee or lunch
  • Identify microaggressions in the workplace and speak up for colleagues
  • Be genuine in your intentions and actions

Structural change requires both individual action and organizational commitment working together.
