When Numbers Meet Impact
Dear Members,
IABA is a community of talented, intellectually curious, and conscientious individuals, and the Impact and Membership Committee has been thinking about how to bring out the best in us. It is our honor to revive Voices of IABA – IABA’s quarterly publication. To give life to that name, we are asking you, our members, to lend your voices to the ideas that excite you, the problems that keep you up at night, and the possibilities that give you hope, through a section called “When Numbers Meet Impact.”
We invite you to submit a piece for the section:
- You are working on a project or concept on a new frontier of risk management, insurance, or an adjacent space
- Your research could shape how things are done in the industry, government, or the broader public domain
- You have been thinking about how actuarial framing and perspectives can help address interesting challenges of our time and in our communities.
- You have an interest in continuing to shape the brand of the profession
Interesting assertions and new ideas are very welcome – catalyze contemplations and dialogue in your writing! However, we ask that you demonstrate respect and a measured tone in your presentation of ideas. Critique without attacking, defend with theory and evidence, support with logic, and inspire with a vision of what is possible. You are writing for a broad audience, so your writing should be accessible and comprehensible across all readers. Submit your piece at any time for review. Our committee will evaluate your submission and let you know whether it is ready for publication or if we recommend revisions to strengthen it for our audience. If this is something that interests you, please submit your piece via this link.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the Impact and Membership Committee at news@blackactuaries.org. We look forward to your contributions and the conversation and action they will inspire across our audience.
With gratitude, IABA Impact and Membership Committee
